Having started in October 1978 the
club's home was the Eltham Pools, Sherrard Road, Eltham. It remained here
until the Local Authority decided in their usual ill thought out designs to
close the building and open a 'Modern' facility elsewhere in the area.
Although the club was involved in various meetings over an 8 year period
the Local Authority decided to just do things their way and created 'The
Eltham Centre' without taking into consideration the requirements of those
trusted long term users of he pools.
The results are obvious, we now have a pool that is too shallow, a second
pool which is unfit for any club to use and now to top things off they are
looking to completely ruin the aquatic sports by imposing impossible
swimming strategies within the borough.
As a club we are actively looking at relocating to another pool but for
those 300 plus people who have been members of the Eltham Otters over the
past 30 years I would like to present you with a few memorable pictures
taken on our last evening at the old pool.
Stefan.
